Meet Tushar Grover. He built his name in Auckland’s most respected kitchens before opening Rhu in 2024 which has now become a local staple at Parnell and is now one of the city’s most talked about restaurants. His style is a precise, fine dining technique applied to simple produce led dishes. Food that reads as effortless but carries real technical effort. 

Their newest venture, Roe, has now joined the 269 Parnell family, offering an elevated take on classic Kiwi comfort food focusing on seafood dishes that feels both familiar and refreshingly current. It’s an eatery that’s “built around seafood and the classics done right”, so rather than re-inventing, they’ve focused on re-imagining them exceptionally well, serving freshly shucked oysters and sashimi alongside golden fish and chips, a Hot Fish Sando filled with crisp tempura fish and tartare inside a soft milk bun, and a creamy tuna melt layered with bubbling cheese on toasted milk bread, all within a bright, contemporary space that fits right into the 269 Parnell philosophy of good food, good company all in service of making good memories.

If you’re craving something a little sweet after your savoury seafood then try a  creamy soft serve finished with fish sauce caramel or crunchy pretzels to have a sweet ending.
